This course is an obligatory one, it means that it is impossible to
get degree without passing the course. This follows from
the educational standards published by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The course will be in Polish (in 2011), however the materials will be mainly in English
due to international cooperation obligations.
Our goal is to develop knowledge and practical skills in embedded systems. We aim to prepare for
advanced projects in this area. As this is one of the most attractive (but difficult at the same time)
sections of the ITC market, we encourage the students to continue learning embedded systems and choose
for instance programming projects in this field.

everything MUST be finalized before the deadline 7.07.2011
Basic literature:
some electronic teaching material will be available here online, access through a password
Requirements:
In order to pass the course it is necessary to fulfil the following conditions:
get a positive grade for laboratory, and
get a positive grade for k-1 tests, where k denotes the total number of tests (we plan k=6), and
get a positive grade during the final exam
Each of these conditions must be fulfilled.
For the final grade we take the following weights:
laboratory - 0.5
current tests - 0.25
final examination - 0.25
For the tests, there will be a second chance for each test separately. The new grade overwrites the old one.
For the exam, the general rules apply (the right for the second trial).
The grades for the tests are the following:
2 - correct answer, some insignificant errors or gaps are tolerated
1 - some substantial part of the answer if given, but the also a substantial part is missing,
0 - otherwise
Passing the test = the grade received is higher than 0.
The tests will check understanding, skills and ability of problem solving.
Each test will be a short problem (almost a test question)
that will demand certain creativity.
It is not necessary to remember details of algorithms, protocols, technical manuals, ...
but it will be necessary to understand them.
Usually, the details which are hard to remember, will be recalled on the
question sheet. It will be allowed to use any materials on paper (books, notices, ...)
any use of electronic devices will be strictly forbidden and results automatically in grade 0
in the current attempt.
The detailed rules for laboratory are determined by the instructor.
Goals:
The lecture has two goals:
learn about general issues in embedded systems technology,
get some practical experience.
Prerequisitives:
Patience and skills in programming are very helpful.
It is recommended to work intensively during the course "Low level programming",
since some skills will be reused in the embedded systems course.
